Record void, waste, or comp correctly
For staff with cancellation permission and the authorised shift leader. Open the
existing order, select the intended item/quantity, and review what physically
happened before confirming cancellation.
| Outcome | Use when |
|---|
| Void | Never made; no charge and no consumed food cost |
| Waste | Made then discarded; no charge, food cost remains |
| Comp | Served free; no charge, food cost remains |
Prepared items cannot simply be classified as never-made voids. The available
outcomes depend on item state. Check kitchen preparation and existing stock
records rather than choosing the reason that makes a figure look better.
- Review the selected item names and value. For one line with several units,
set the quantity with the minus/plus controls.
- Under What happened?, choose Void, Waste, or Comp based on
the physical outcome. Selecting a card does not yet cancel the items.
- Select the appropriate Reason for Waste or Comp. Void has Reason
(optional) and records never made when no other reason is selected.
- Review the final button's outcome, quantity, and any selected reason. Press
that confirmation only after checking the full selection.
- Verify the saved lines, order totals, and sync status. Do not also log the
same loss as a second independent stock event.
Changing the outcome clears the selected reason. The confirmation stays
unavailable until an outcome and any required reason are selected, and when
permission or a paid-order restriction blocks the action. The sheet provides no
undo; reopen the order and involve the manager if a confirmed outcome was wrong.
Orders with payments
The app can block removal of the last active items on an order that still holds
a payment: Keep at least one item, or refund the payment first. This is not
permission to keep a fictitious item, change a price to zero, or record a refund
that did not happen.
Have the authorised manager review the guest's request and actual transactions,
use the supported refund/correction flow when appropriate, and verify its
outcome before cancelling remaining lines. A cancellation does not itself prove
money was returned to the guest.
After an uncertain cancellation or refund, inspect current lines, payment
history, and sync status before another action. Do not void legitimate orders
merely to close the daily. Escalate with order, selected items/quantity,
physical outcome, payment state, reason and exact error through an authorised
channel, keeping financial and guest details private.
