# Edit and publish the restaurant website

**Console: Marketing → Website.** For the manager maintaining the restaurant's
public site. Confirm the business. Use **Create site** if none exists; this
starts from saved hours, location, contact details, and menu links.

## Edit the draft

Choose a page under **Pages**, or **Add page**. Select a section in the preview
and edit its copy, image, layout, and action. **Add section** adds another
supported section; **Show**, **Hide**, **Reset**, and **Remove** have distinct
consequences. Removal changes the draft and reaches guests only after saving and
publishing.

**Reset** removes custom section copy, image, and action from the draft. Saved
restaurant details remain the fallback where available.

Click text to edit, double-click imagery to replace it, and use the action
editor for buttons. The interface offers Esc to cancel text editing and
Cmd/Ctrl + Enter to save that text. Check the overall site save state as well.
Use **Undo** and **Redo** while reviewing edits.

Hours, address, and contact details come from location settings; menu content
comes from live menu settings. Use **Edit live place details** or **Manage menu
content** for those source records. Do not assume every value is an independent
website draft field. Brand settings use the restaurant's identity and can also
be shared with its guest emails and receipts.

## Check navigation and preview

Configure **Header links** and **Header button** with labels and valid
destinations. Review custom links and use recommended links where useful.
Incomplete labels or destinations do not appear in the preview. Check event
start/end dates, image descriptions, and section content.

Preview **Desktop**, **Tablet**, and **Mobile**. Test the guest's important
paths: booking, menu, ordering, directions, contact, events, and enquiries, as
applicable. A decorative preview alone does not verify the destination.

## Save and publish

| State or action | Meaning |
| -------------------- | ------------------------------------------ |
| Unsaved changes | The draft still needs Save |
| Saved, not published | The saved draft is ahead of the live site |
| Save | Retains the draft; does not publish it |
| Publish | Publishes the reviewed saved version |
| View live | Opens the public site to verify the result |

Save first, then **Publish** and verify the intended pages through **View
live**. At least one section must be shown. If the draft changed elsewhere,
reload and compare before editing again; do not overwrite another manager's
changes.

AI assistance updates the draft. Save before applying an AI edit, review the
result, then save and publish deliberately. The assistant's successful response
is not proof that the public site changed.

If loading or saving fails, preserve the existing draft and use **Try again**.
After uncertain publication, inspect the live site before publishing again. See
[Domains](/website/domains), [Search preview](/website/search-preview), and
[Analytics](/website/analytics). Escalate with page, section, intended version,
observed live result, and exact error; use approved synthetic captures.
