# Review automatic purchasing suggestions

For the stock lead. **Console: Stock → Purchase orders → Auto-Order.** Confirm
the working location. Suggestions use recorded stock, reorder settings,
preferred supplier pricing and available consumption history; they are not a
physical stock check or a supplier's acceptance of an order.

## Check the recommendations

1. Read **Recommendations are incomplete** before treating an empty result as
fully stocked. Review how many catalogue items have stock at this location
and a configured reorder point. Complete the [opening count](/stock/counts)
   and [item setup](/stock/items-and-packs).
2. Review each supplier's **Current**, **Par**, **Order Qty**, and **Cost**.
Current/par can be displayed in the count unit, while Order Qty uses the
displayed supplier pack. Check a case or bottle quantity and its price basis
   before editing it.
3. Compare suggestions with expected service demand, deliveries already due,
physical storage and the kitchen's actual needs. The history indicator
describes available recorded history, not guaranteed future demand.
4. Edit the proposed quantity or remove an unwanted line. Verify the intended
   supplier, pack and updated total.
5. Check **Order by …**, expected delivery, and **Slipped to a later delivery**
against the supplier's actual arrangements. Times follow the location's
configured time zone; a recommendation is not a delivery promise.

## Missing prices or suppliers

**No price** is different from a confirmed zero price. Review the preferred
supplier's price before proceeding. A supplier group with an unpriced retained
item is held back; other eligible supplier groups can still produce orders. Read
the Create button's count rather than assuming every displayed item is included.

**No preferred supplier** or skipped items need deliberate supplier/pack setup.
Use [Suppliers](/stock/suppliers) and verify the saved price and active pack. Do
not select an unrelated supplier to clear a warning.

## Review minimums and top-ups

Read minimum-order value, delivery fee, and free-delivery threshold notices.
Suggested **Add** top-ups are editable purchases, not free goods. Add only what
the restaurant actually needs and can store; check the new quantity and total.
Meeting a free-delivery threshold is separate from supplier acceptance, VAT, and
actual invoice or delivery charges.

## Create and verify the drafts

Use **Create … POs** only after reviewing the eligible suppliers and quantities.
Open **Purchase orders** afterwards and verify each resulting draft: supplier,
location, lines, packs, costs, and delivery details. These are draft records;
creation does not send them to the supplier or put goods into stock.

Follow [Purchase orders](/guides/purchase-orders) for editing, approval and
**Send to Supplier**, then [Receiving](/stock/receiving) for actual goods.

If some suppliers failed, successful drafts can already exist. Read the named
failures and refreshed recommendations, inspect saved orders, then retry only
the missing work. Do not repeat the entire original selection after a partial
result or timeout. **Nothing was ordered from …** is a creation result for those
suppliers; verify all other suppliers separately.

## If the page cannot load

Restore the connection and use **Try again**. Do not interpret a query error,
missing price, or incomplete setup as “nothing needs ordering”. Keep location,
supplier, item/pack, physical quantity, intended order, saved drafts checked,
and exact error for the authorised stock lead.

For comparing supplier options use [Order Builder](/stock/order-builder).
