# Choose the correct legal entity

**Console: Settings → Business settings → Legal entities.** For the authorised
owner or accounting manager. Verify the entity that should issue each location's
receipts and invoices; common ownership does not make separate companies
interchangeable.

1. Search or review existing entities before selecting **Add entity** or
   **Create legal entity**.
2. Enter the verified Legal entity name, Company type, Company registration
number, and VAT/Tax ID where applicable. Review the configured document and
receipt information with the responsible reviewer.
3. Select **Save entity**, then reopen and verify the saved identity.
4. In [Location General](/settings/location/general), check **Accounting
Profile** for the intended branch. Inspect a supported document preview and
actual authorised records rather than assuming assignment alone proves
   compliance.

**Invoiced to** in [Business General](/settings/business/general) identifies the
entity paying for TablePort. That can be a separate decision from which entity
issues guest documents. Do not infer billing authority, provider agreements,
data access or legal coverage from another company or shared infrastructure.

Deleting an entity is permanent and the confirmation says linked locations need
reassignment. Review those links and existing records before any authorised
change. Deletion is not a generic correction for an invoice or legal identity
mistake, and is not proof historic/provider records were erased.

If entities cannot load, existing assignments cannot be verified from that view.
Retry and preserve them; do not create duplicates from an empty error screen.
Escalate with entity and location references, intended identity, observed
document/assignment and error, keeping business records private.
