# Review purchase spend, price changes, and budgets

**Reports → Inventory reports → Purchasing.** Choose the period and location.
**Purchases** groups recorded receipts by supplier, category, and item; a draft
PO is not received spend. Check supplier credits and the displayed net context
rather than assuming an outstanding claim has already been recovered.

**Price Movers** shows supplier price history and changes within its chosen
period. Compare the same product, pack, unit, and supplier. A changed pack or
incorrect delivery price can look like a price rise. Review the source receipt
and [supplier catalogue](/stock/suppliers) before changing supplier or cost.

**Invoices** is an operational approval queue as well as an archive. Follow
[Invoice review](/stock/invoices) to distinguish stock-changing approval from
price-only approval for already-received goods.

## Budgets

Open **Costs → Budgets**. **Add budget** chooses a category or all categories,
weekly/monthly period, amount, and **Warn at** share. Save and verify the
result. The view tracks received purchasing activity against the configured
ceiling; a warning is not proof that a PO was prevented or supplier goods
refused.

Review missing categories and receipt completeness before interpreting spend
remaining. Deleting a budget permanently removes its tracking record; read the
confirmation. Do not delete it to hide an overspend or change prices to make the
displayed total fit.

If a query or save fails, preserve existing configuration and inspect the same
record before retrying. Escalate with location, period, supplier/pack, receipt
or budget reference, expected result, and exact error.
