# Work station tickets and expediter handover

For kitchen and pass staff. Confirm the working location, station or expediter
view, and configured ticket mode. Stations receive the item categories assigned
in [Prep stations](/orders/kitchen-setup#prep-stations).

Read table/order identity, items, choices, allergens, kitchen notes, course, and
timer. A held course is not an instruction to start immediately; coordinate
[Fire](/orders/rounds) with the floor team.

## Advance the real preparation state

The configured mode determines the action: simple one-tap can clear to Ready,
swipe supports bump/recall, and progression advances through steps. Follow the
labels on that station. **BUMP** advances preparation; it does not settle a
bill. Use Start when preparation begins, Ready when plated, and the offered
Out/service action after actual handover as appropriate to the configuration.

The expediter view coordinates across stations. **SERVE** confirms food was
picked up when ready, **RECALL** brings back work needing attention, and
**RUSH** marks priority. Do not mark a ticket served solely to remove its timer.

## Mistakes, sync, and recovery

Use the offered undo toast or **Activity** to inspect and correct an actual bump
mistake. A queued offline action may not yet be reflected on another screen.
Restore connection and inspect existing state rather than bumping the same
ticket repeatedly or recreating the order.

Warning/alert colours follow configured wait thresholds. Review the item and
kitchen facts rather than treating colour as an automatic food-safety judgement.
Preserve the restaurant's verified allergy process; displayed notes/badges do
not replace direct kitchen confirmation.

If a ticket is missing, check station categories, order/round Send and Fire,
item state, selected view, filters, and sync. For paper output, check the
printer queue separately and coordinate before reprinting. Escalate with
station, order/course, actual preparation state, last action, device, time, and
error.
