# The Daily Report in the Staff App

The **Stats** tab in the TablePort staff app is where the team runs the trading
day: open it, watch it live, record cash, print the report and close it.

The tab appears for roles with **View Place Daily Reports** or **Manage Place
Daily Reports**. Staff who can open and close the day but not view reports see a
short message instead of the figures.

## The Stats header

The header stays at the top while you scroll. It shows the location name and, on
the right:

| Button                   | What it does                                                                                                                                                      |
| ------------------------ | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Printer | Prints the daily report on this device's selected printer. Long-press to choose another printer. |
| Open cash drawer | Opens the cash drawer. Shown only when the selected printer has a cash drawer connected. See [Cash drawers](/daily-reports/cash-drawers#opening-the-cash-drawer). |
| Open daily / Close daily | Opens or closes the trading day. Needs **Manage Place Daily Reports**. See [Daily Reports Overview](/daily-reports). |

Below the header, the report title shows the date, **Open** or **Closed**, the
report number and times, and on an open day "Live · updated" with the time.

## Layout on iPad and phone

The report is the same on every device; only the arrangement changes.

- **iPad with the app at least 900 points wide (usually landscape)**: sections
  are tabs along the top, the headline and checks sit side by side, key figures
  show in two columns with small trend lines, and Money, Voids & discounts and
  Tax & close-out panels sit in two columns.
- **Phone, or iPad in a narrow window**: sections are a row of chips you can
  swipe, and everything stacks in one column.

Either way, the section tabs or chips stay pinned and highlight the section you
are reading. Tap one to jump to it.

## Sections

The sections are **Summary**, **Money**, **Menu**, **Team**, **Guests**, **Voids
& discounts** and **Tax & close-out**. Sections with nothing to show are left
out. Every figure means the same as in the console; see
[Reading the daily report in the console](/daily-reports/console-report) for
definitions.

**Summary** contains, in order:

1. **Before closing**, when there are open orders or open time tracks, with
   **Settle now**.
2. **Net sales**, with **Billed**, **Taken** and **VAT**, and a short summary of
   the day.
3. Checks.
4. **Services**, such as Lunch and Dinner.
5. **Item sales by hour**, or **Item sales by day** when the day has been open
   for more than 36 hours.
6. **Key figures**, compared with recent days.

## Checks

The checks panel in Summary is titled with the number of things to check, or
"Nothing needs checking". Tap a check to open it, or **See all** to open **All
checks**, grouped as:

- **Needs attention**: problems;
- **Worth a look**: things to watch;
- **Going well**;
- **For information**.

A single check shows its detail, the figure behind it and **Go to** the section
it is about. Checks marked **Estimate** use default rates or average party
sizes: "treat it as a guide". Checks are automatic, so confirm before acting.

## Opening orders from the report

In **Voids & discounts**, rows with a chevron open the order behind them:

- voided items;
- discounts (promotions are not linked to one order);
- cancelled orders.

The open orders in **Before closing**, **Settle pending work** and the
**Close-out** panel open the existing order for review. Check payment outcome
and ask the authorised shift leader to resolve it; do not void or charge again
merely to let closing proceed.

Other rows open more detail rather than an order: **See all** items or
categories in Menu, a team member in Team, and a drawer in Money.

## Team today

With the **Staff Management** add-on, the Team section starts with **Team
today**: who is on shift, who is late or missing, labour against today's sales,
a timeline, and **Call** and **Mark sick** for each person.

Without the add-on, the end of the Team section shows an upgrade card, **See
your team next to your sales**, with the monthly price. Staff who can manage
billing see **Add Staff Management**, which opens Billing in the console. Others
see "Ask an owner to add it in Billing."

## When no day is open

When the day is closed, the Stats tab shows:

- **No trading day is open**, with when it closed and **Open daily**. Staff
  without permission see "Ask a manager to open the daily.";
- **Last day**: accounting net sales, all orders, seated covers and per seated
  cover for the most recent closed day, with **View full report**;
- **Last N days**: a bar for each of up to seven recent days with accounting net
  sales, all orders and seated covers. Tap a bar to open that day's report;
- **Team today**, when you have Staff Management.

The closed-day recap includes deposits and gift cards in accounting net sales
and all orders. Open **View full report** for trading sales and their separate
deposit and gift-card lines.

If the device cannot reach TablePort it says **Can't reach TablePort** with
**Try again**. When it has not loaded the daily, it cannot establish whether the
day is open. Restore the connection and inspect current state before opening or
closing from another device.

## Earlier reports

To open any earlier report on the device, go to **Settings → Daily reports** and
choose a report. It has the same sections, a printer button in the header, and a
**Print** card at the end of Tax & close-out.

## Printing the daily report

Tap the printer button in the Stats header, or **Print daily report** on an
earlier report. It prints on this device's selected printer; if none is
selected, the app asks you to choose one first. Long-press to choose a different
printer.

The thermal slip includes net sales and the comparison, item sales by hour or
day, services, the menu price to net sales ladder, takings by method, each cash
drawer with **EXPECTED CASH** and the saved **Counted** amount (a blank line
when no count is saved), covers and orders, voids and discounts, VAT by rate,
deposits, team hours and sales, anything left open, and the top things to check.

If printing fails, inspect the selected printer and queue before another copy.
Recover the print separately from daily closing; a missing slip is not proof
that the day failed to close. Use [Printer recovery](/troubleshooting/printers).

The daily report prints on thermal receipt printers. Impact (dot-matrix) kitchen
printers cannot print it.

## Refreshing

Pull down on the report to refresh it. The tab also refreshes each time you
return to it.
