# Finding What You Need

Quick answers to the questions managers ask most at the end of a day. "Console
report" means **working location → Reports → Daily reports →** the report. "App"
means the **Stats** tab in the staff app.

## Sales

### What were today's sales?

The large **Net sales** figure at the top of the console report or the app
Summary. It is food, drinks and other sales after discounts, without VAT. See
[Net sales and what sits outside it](/daily-reports/console-report#net-sales-and-what-sits-outside-it).

### Where are reservation deposits?

Under net sales: "+ … reservation deposits, held for bookings". Deposits taken,
used against bills and refunded are in **Tax & close-out → Deposits**. Deposits
are not part of net sales.

### Where are gift cards?

Gift cards sold are under net sales ("+ … gift cards sold"). Sold, redeemed,
refunded and outstanding are in **Tax & close-out → Gift cards & accounts**.

### How do I see Lunch vs Dinner?

**The day → Services** in the console, or **Summary → Services** in the app. To
set your own services, go to **Location Settings → General → Service Shifts**
and use **Add typical shifts** or **Add Shift**. Without them, the report uses
that day's reservation shifts.

### When were we busiest?

**The day → Item sales by hour**. The peak hour is marked, and the section
heading names it.

### How does today compare with last week?

The change next to net sales and the **Key figures** trends compare with the
most recent closed day on the same weekday, or the previous day if there is
none.

### What sold best?

**Menu → Top sellers**. For every item, use **All items** in the console and
**Export CSV** if you need a spreadsheet.

### Which dishes should we reprice or promote?

**Menu → Popularity × margin**. It needs recipe costs on at least five food
items.

## Money

### How much did we take in cash?

**Money → Takings by method**, the **Cash** row, **Net** column. For what should
be in each drawer, see **Money → Cash drawers → Expected**.

### How much should be in the drawer?

**Money → Cash drawers → Expected**, or **EXPECTED CASH** on the printed report.
See [Cash drawers](/daily-reports/cash-drawers).

### How do I record the float, or cash paid out to a supplier?

App → **Money → Cash drawers → Add cash entry**, then **Deposit** or
**Withdraw** with a note. See
[Recording cash in and out](/daily-reports/cash-drawers#recording-cash-in-and-out).

### The drawer is short. What now?

See
[When the count does not match](/daily-reports/cash-drawers#when-the-count-does-not-match).

### Why don't billed and taken match?

**Money → Billed → paid** shows the difference. On an open day, some bills are
not paid yet. Unpaid amounts on house accounts are shown separately. A refund
today for an earlier day's bill lowers taken. See
[Billed and taken](/daily-reports/console-report#billed-and-taken).

### Where is the day's reported VAT?

**Tax & close-out → VAT**, by rate, with reported net and VAT for each. Check
refunds, deposits, gift-card treatment, and the underlying records with the
responsible accounting reviewer; this daily view alone is not a tax return.

### Which house accounts were charged?

**Tax & close-out → Gift cards & accounts → House accounts charged**.

## Voids, discounts and refunds

### Who voided the most?

**Voids & discounts → By team member**. Each void in the **Voids** list shows
who did it, when and why.

### Why was something voided?

**Voids & discounts → Voids** shows the reason, or "no reason given". Click the
row (or tap it in the app) to open the order.

### Are cancelled orders counted twice?

No. Cancelled orders are already counted in voids and are listed separately for
reference.

### Is a refunded deposit counted as a loss?

No. Deposit refunds for cancelled bookings are shown as a note and are not
counted in voids and discounts.

## Team

### How many hours did the team work, and what did it cost?

**Team → Team detail**. Labour cost needs hourly rates on staff profiles, or the
default hourly cost in **Location Settings → General**.

### Why is someone's shift "not counted"?

It was left open for more than 16 hours, so it is treated as a forgotten
clock-out. Correct it in attendance.

### Who is still clocked in?

App → **Summary → Before closing**, or console **Team**, which offers **Open
attendance**.

## Guests

### How many covers did we do?

**Covers** in **Key figures**. **Guests** has the bookings funnel and walk-ins.

### How many no-shows did we have?

**Guests → Booked covers → seated → No-show**. No-show covers are estimated from
the average party size.

### What does "Never resolved" mean?

Bookings on a closed day that were never marked seated, cancelled or no-show.
Update those bookings so future reports are accurate.

### Where did bookings come from?

**Guests → Where bookings came from**.

## Opening, closing and sharing

### How do I close the day?

App → **Stats → Close daily**, then confirm. See
[Closing the day](/daily-reports#closing-the-day).

### The day will not close.

Inspect **Settle pending work** and actual order/payment/time-record states.
Have the authorised shift leader resolve them, then verify the daily is still
open before closing again. Do not void a legitimate bill or guess a clock-out
time merely to clear the warning.

### We forgot to close the day yesterday.

Settle open orders and close it now. The report will cover both days. See
[Why close every service day](/daily-reports#why-close-every-service-day).

### Who receives the daily email?

**Location Settings → General → Daily report & manager email → Manager report
recipients**. Up to 20 addresses. With none, no email is sent.

### How do I resend the daily email?

Console report → **Email Report**, type an address, **Send Report**. It requests
delivery to that one address. Check the queued, failed, uncertain, or sent state
before resending; it does not prove the person read it. To see who already
received it, click the email status in the report header.

### How do I get a PDF?

It is attached to the daily email. From the console, **Print** and choose **Save
as PDF**.

### How do I print the report on the till?

App → **Stats**, tap the printer button. Long-press to choose another printer.

### Where are earlier days in the app?

App → **Settings → Daily reports**, or the **Last N days** bars on the Stats tab
when no day is open.

### What do the checks mean?

They are automatic prompts from comparing the day with your own history. Confirm
before acting. See [Checks](/daily-reports/console-report#checks).
