# Configure a loyalty programme

**Console: Guests → Loyalty.** For the manager responsible for rewards. Member
profiles are managed separately in [Guests → Members](/customers/members), which
includes **New member** and **Import guests**.

## Set the programme

Check **Programme name** and **Programme active**. Review the member-data
retention setting through the restaurant's authorised policy; a configured
number of days does not by itself establish compliance. Do not copy a retention
value from another business or assume a universal default.

Set points per completed order, per item, and per currency unit as intended.
Check the currency context and interaction between earning rules before saving.
Do not interpret lifetime spend as a spendable points balance.

## Define reward steps

1. Select **Add step** and name the reward. Use **Display name** for
guest-facing wording when it differs from the internal step name.
2. Choose **After** for a milestone reward or **Every** for a repeating reward,
then the threshold and segment: orders, bookings, or points.
3. Choose a fixed-amount or percentage benefit. Check its discount, **Limit
value**, and **Valid for** period. A zero limit means no cap.
4. Check the step's active state and order, then **Done**.
5. Save the membership settings. The step editor's **Done** leaves changes in
the page draft; it does not finish the overall save.
6. Reopen the programme and verify the saved rules, then inspect the intended
guest earning and redemption flow using a safe test agreed with the manager.

Deleting a step removes it from the current draft; you can discard the page's
unsaved changes before saving. Review existing programme terms and live rewards
before changing them. Do not promise a reward merely because its draft appears
in the editor.

If saving fails, keep the draft and read the validation or connection error.
After an uncertain save, reopen before submitting it again. See
[Guest consent](/marketing/consent) for marketing permission; programme
membership is not a substitute for that consent.
